We all know Feastly is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to cooking; that’s why we needed to make cooking tips a two part-er. We are going to keep the cooking tricks coming so that your food can be better, easier and more efficient.
1) Making the perfect grilled cheese
“Make the perfect grilled cheese – baked, between two baking sheets. Bread is crispy, inside is gooey, and you can make a bunch at once.”
In my household we go through a lot of grilled cheese. We often throw in avocados, lunch meats, or fried eggs, adding protein and a gourmet edge to this American classic. However, I would always run into the problem of timing. It’s hard to make enough grilled cheeses and keep them all warm at once. But by putting this kitchen tip to good use, you can have homemade paninis (sounds more gourmet than grilled cheese) all done at the same time.
2) Making your bananas last longer
“Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.”
As a banana lover this tip helps me immensely. My bananas always ripening before I eat them all, forcing me to make endless batches of banana bread. Despite its deliciousness, less banana bread is always good for my waistband. It also explain why at cafes the bananas are never attached. But now we know their secret…
3) Double your frosting
” When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.”
Saving calories and money, while still eating frosting? That’s definitely my kind of tip! I usually find store bought frosting much too stiff and thick, so whipping it for a few minutes would really improve the texture. I’m always about getting more bang for your buck so I will use this tip immediately (don’t judge me for going through a lot of frosting…).
