On January 19, Chef Anya invited six people to an incredible six-course meal at her home in Columbia Heights.
Meet the Cook
Anya was born in the former Soviet Union to a Ukrainian mom and a Nigerian dad and raised by her Jewish grandparents. She has since lived, studied, worked and eaten all over the world. She first fell in love with food while studying in France and working in a tiny bistro. Anya went on to spend many years in the business. Although her life took a tragic turn many years ago when she accidentally went to law school, she has never forgotten her true love and is excited to share it with you.
Guests arrived to a beautifully set table with a menu of the six-course meal printed out for each Feaster.
Guests started with endive amuse with seared shrimp and tomato-cilantro garnish. Anya then went on to prepare scallops in a chive nage.
Guest could then choose between crab bread pudding or lobster avocado Napoleon
Onto, seasonal root vegetables in buttermilk dressing.
The main course: Oven-roasted monkfish w/ miso broth, root vegetables, turnip purée and shiitake mushrooms
Dessert: Citrus white chocolate parfait coupled with bittersweet and grand mariner truffles.
